On October 22, Eminem clearly displayed his political stance when he participated in Kamala Harris‘ campaign rally in Detroit. The rapper not only voiced his support for Harris, but he also had the honor of introducing former President Barack Obama to the public. News of Eminem’s presence at the rally was revealed just before the event, drawing attention, particularly from Elon Musk, who responded with a bold statement about Eminem.

The Twitter owner decided to criticize Eminem with a provocative comment, surprising many fans. Musk didn’t merely imply that Eminem was close to Diddy, or that he attended Diddy’s infamous parties. He outright stated it. In a comment attached to a screenshot of the TMZ article confirming Eminem’s plans, Musk wrote: “Yet another Diddy party participant.” However, the comment didn’t gain much traction, as there’s no evidence linking Eminem to Diddy or any allegations involving the mogul. In fact, Eminem has been one of Diddy‘s most vocal critics for decades. The rapper has dissed the Bad Boy Records founder several times in his recordings. Most famously, in the 2018 diss track aimed at Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) titled “Killshot”, Eminem rapped: “Kells, the day you put out a hit is the day Diddy admits that he put the hit out that got Pac killed.”
Looking back at the relationship between Eminem and Diddy, there aren’t many public examples of them being close. On the contrary, one of Eminem’s closest friends, 50 Cent, has been one of Diddy’s harshest critics since the 2000s. Eminem and 50 Cent remain close friends, and 50 Cent recently commented on Eminem’s newfound status as a grandfather. This further solidifies the lack of any connection between Eminem and Diddy. In contrast, Elon Musk has a more complicated history with Diddy. The tech billionaire has publicly stated that he is close friends with Diddy. In the book Character Limit, Musk even revealed: “Puff is an investor in Twitter. He’s a good friend of mine. We text a lot.”
Musk’s Twitter jab at Eminem this time is a stark contrast to his previous admiration for the rapper. In 2022, Musk had quoted Eminem when trying to regain control of his Twitter account from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). In court filings, Musk referenced Eminem’s song “Without Me” and adapted the lyrics to fit his situation: “The SEC won’t let me be or let me be me so let me see…”

However, times have changed. From quoting Eminem’s lyrics, Musk is now attacking the rapper with controversial comments. While there is no solid evidence linking Eminem to Diddy, Musk’s statement still garnered attention due to its stark opposition to what had once transpired between Musk and Eminem.
Meanwhile, Eminem’s appearance at Kamala Harris’s campaign rally and his introduction of Barack Obama marked an important step in showcasing the rapper’s political stance. It not only proves his clear support for the Democratic Party but also shows that he is willing to use his fame to advocate for political changes he believes in. Eminem has long been known for his clear political views, especially his strong criticism of former President Donald Trump in the famous rap “The Storm” at the BET Hip Hop Awards in 2017. This latest move only reinforces his image as an artist unafraid to confront heated political issues and stand up for the values he supports.
The clash between Elon Musk and Eminem over politics and matters involving Diddy is attracting considerable attention from the online community. While Eminem continues to assert his political views boldly, Musk has chosen the path of criticism, stirring controversy with provocative statements. Time will tell how the relationship between these two famous figures will develop, but one thing is certain—both will remain in the public eye for the foreseeable future.
