The Atlanta-born rapper, who was just 34 years old, left behind a deep sense of loss for his fans and loved ones. According to his girlfriend, Amber Williams, she saw Quan asleep on the couch the morning of his tragic death before taking her son to school. When she returned home, she checked on him and found his body cold, prompting her to call 911. “At the scene, I did not observe any signs of foul play. Mr. Lamar (Quan’s real name) was unresponsive, unconscious, and not breathing,” the attending officer noted in the report, as cited by Fox 5 Atlanta. Amber also confirmed that Lamar had no prior medical conditions or underlying diseases.
The unexpected death of Rich Homie Quan left a huge void in the hearts of his fans, especially since just days after his passing, his family released his first posthumous music video for the song “Song Cry”. This track, filled with emotions, is unlike his usual music, as it incorporates footage from his recent funeral, held on September 17. The funeral was attended by notable artists such as Killer Mike, DC Young Fly, and others who came to pay their respects.
In the introduction of the song, Quan was deeply emotional as he said: “This song is very personal to me. I know many of my songs aren’t taken seriously, but I want you all to really listen to this one.” His words seemed like a final message to his fans, sharing a piece of his heart in his final moments.
