Cadillac continued their dominance in all the singles matches as Mason Freeman and Kyle Ross secured additional wins, further adding to Cadillac’s overall victory. This strong showing created a significant challenge for Alpena’s players.
Doubles Teams Struggle Against Steady Opponents
Alpena’s doubles teams also faced fierce competition. Evan McDonald and Hunter Orr fought hard but couldn’t overcome the Cadillac duo, losing 6-4, 6-0. Austin Derosia and Jack Caplis suffered a 6-0, 6-0 defeat, while the third pair, Maddox Chabot and Liam
Kieliszewski, also lost by the same score.
Coach Giordano emphasized that Cadillac’s stability and skill were key factors in the match. “Cadillac is a very consistent team with many good athletes. We will face many of them again on Wednesday at our Big North Conference,” Giordano noted. “Our plan remains the same: keep the ball in play and make the other team beat you with better shots.”
Progress and Unyielding Spirit of Alpena Wildcats
Despite the unfavorable outcome, Giordano recognized the team’s significant progress throughout the season. He noted that although their opponents were getting stronger, the Alpena players were showing more consistency and confidence compared to earlier in the year. “The team has improved a lot this year,” he said. “Unfortunately, as the season goes on, we seem to face tougher opponents, so our development is hard to see in the results.”
