Cardi B Denies Financial Hardship Rumors, Claims She Spends $3 Million Monthly

Cardi B, one of the most successful and influential rappers of her generation, is once again making headlines—but this time, it’s not about her music. The Grammy-winning artist recently denied allegations of financial trouble, asserting in no uncertain terms that she spends an astonishing $3 million each month and can afford to buy whatever she desires.

The fiery response came after critics questioned her financial status following a video of the rapper posing in affordable winter jackets from Shein, a Chinese-founded e-commerce platform known for its budget-friendly clothing. Critics on social media suggested that Cardi, known for her extravagant lifestyle and high-end fashion, might be facing financial challenges.

In true Cardi B fashion, the rapper didn’t hold back in addressing the rumors.

“I Spend $3 Million a Month!”

Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), Cardi B shared a voice recording on December 3 in which she shut down the financial hardship claims. “I can go spend $500,000 on a f*ing car tomorrow. I could buy me a $300,000 watch tomorrow,” she declared. “B**, I could buy your mother.”

Cardi also emphasized her financial security, revealing she has lucrative opportunities readily available. “I want to let y’all know I could wake up tomorrow, sign a contract, and have half of $65 million, or half of $70 million, in my bank,” she said.

To back up her statement, Cardi posted screenshots of a text message from September, showing that she was negotiating a tour deal worth $65 million. The offer included $1 million per show for 65 performances, with the possibility of receiving half of the total payment upfront.

Living Smart, Not Hungry

Cardi explained that her current decision not to take on major tour deals stems from strategic planning rather than financial need. “I don’t want to take tour deals until I announce my album because when I announce my album, I know they’re going to up it,” she explained. “You have to move smart. You can’t act hungry when you’re not.”

She described this phase of her career as an “off year,” emphasizing that she is choosing to wait for the right moment to maximize her earnings and opportunities.

The Shein Controversy

The financial speculation surrounding Cardi B began after a video of her modeling four winter jackets from Shein went viral. Known for wearing luxury brands like Hermès, Chanel, and Balenciaga, some critics found it unusual to see her associated with a fast-fashion brand.

One social media user commented, “Girl, you wear Hermès and Chanel, not Shein.”

However, Cardi’s fans and supporters were quick to defend her. Many pointed out that Cardi has long collaborated with fast-fashion brands like Fashion Nova, so her association with Shein aligns with her previous business ventures.

Others criticized the need for Cardi to even address such rumors, given her well-documented success and wealth. “Baby, you are rich rich. Why are you explaining anything to these people? Put it in a song,” one follower suggested.
