50 Cent has built a strong name for himself in the hip-hop world, but nowadays, it seems like he spends more time on projects outside of music than on composing and performing. In a recent interview with Earn Your Leisure at Invest Fest, he shared why he no longer feels as passionate about rap as he once did. According to 50 Cent, to write songs that fit current music trends, he needs to “tap into the stupid side” of himself, which makes him uncomfortable.

“If you listen to the music out now, I have to ‘tap into my stupidity’ to write the right thing that people are listening to,” 50 Cent began. “I have to tap into that dumb part of myself to create content that fits the trends when writing music.” For this reason, he has decided to spend more time on film production and developing other projects. “That’s why I haven’t created as much music content as I used to, and I started leaning towards film production and project development. Because I feel like I can make a bigger impact through that.”
Although music is no longer 50 Cent’s main focus at the moment, he hasn’t ruled out a return to the music scene. Last year, he teased a new album in an interview with Evropa 2 in November, after wrapping up his “Final Lap” tour. “When I’m not constantly on the move and not touring, it will allow me to focus more on creating music,” 50 Cent shared. “You’ll see me return to music like how Dr. Dre and Eminem continue to do.”
The reason 50 Cent gives for shifting his focus to other areas outside of music is understandable. In a context where today’s music increasingly caters to mass audiences, it’s no surprise that an artist with such a rich career and major success finds it difficult to maintain creativity in this field. 50 Cent has always been a visionary, diversifying himself from music, business, to film production. He realizes that he can make a bigger and more long-lasting impact through film projects rather than trying to follow a music industry that is losing its original quality.

The question is, can fans blame him? Perhaps not. 50 Cent has already contributed so much to the music industry, and if he chooses a new path to continue his career and create value for society, it not only reflects his intelligence but also the vision of a great artist.
